One of the most talked about installations at the last Signal 2024 festival was The Curtain by Alexander Shtanuk, a kinetic sculpture, a canvas of 5,000 balloons the size of a 16-storey building, a 50x50 metre canvas, floating in the sky, and changing shape in the breeze. Hovering in the air as if from a parallel dimension, the ephemeral structure temporarily transformed the landscape of the Nikola-Lenivets Art-Park
THE BLANKET installation at Burning Man 2019. 3350 NASA space blankets sewn together to form a 100x100 metre canvas. The silhouette of the blanket was constantly changed by the force of the wind, taking on different surreal shapes - waves, mountains or some huge fantastical sculptures
During the hot day, the space under the Blanket is used as a comfortable and refreshing rest area where everyone can relax, chill, take a nap or dance
Reinforced tape was used to create a huge square version, spanning 100 metres on each side. This allowed it to billow in the wind and cast a shadow over a over much of the desert, allowing visitors to rest in the shade. Alternatively, it could be laid on the sand and used as a seating area
